Google Analytics is a web analytics service offered by Google that tracks and reports website traffic, currently as a platform inside the Google Marketing Platform brand. Google launched the service in November 2005 after acquiring Urchin. As of 2019, Google Analytics is the most widely used web analytics service on the web. Google Analytics provides an SDK that allows gathering usage data from iOS and Android app, known as Google Analytics for Mobile Apps. Google Analytics can be blocked by browsers, browser extensions, and firewalls and other means.

An Administrator in Information Technology and Services advice this on G2 Website in November 2019:

"I don't understand all these great reviews. There is really nothing I like best about Google Analytics, I had to purchase another solution. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

First of all, it's really hard to use and by the time you get used to your workflow, they change the user interface. Second, the most important data to me (where are visitors coming from) is obscured. It used to be available, but now it says it's not. What happened? Finally, the conversion data doesn't match data coming in from Google Adwords or my own servers.. so I can only deduce that the data is incorrect. Oh... and there's zero customer support. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I recommend using other products, I have wasted way too much time with Google Analytics."

Current Employee - Analytical Lead says

"I have been working at Google full-time for more than 3 years Cons: Poor culture, inexperienced and arrogant middle managers, hyper-competitive, limited options for career growth, no focus on inclusion, growth at all costs, unfair compensation, pervasive cost-cutting, forced entire job category to take a pay cut with no warning"

Current Employee - Analytical Lead says

"I have been working at Google full-time for more than 8 years Cons: The company used to be about the user and customers, but now it's only about the bottom line for the organization. The reason you do anything is always money driven and not based on a more holistic approach to business."

Current Employee - Analytical Lead says

"I have been working at Google full-time for more than 3 years Cons: Management seems to only care about getting promoted and has very little passion or intrinsic interest in marketing science/analytics. Huge lack of a test & learn culture - if an internal project is started it has to succeed b/c of the focus on optics. And often the times the "success" consists of fluffy case studies / metrics."

Current Employee - Analytical Lead says

"I have been working at Google full-time for more than 3 years Cons: The benefits are incredible, but your career is likely going to stop where it is."

Current Employee - Manager, Analytics says

"I have been working at Google full-time Cons: Working for different time zones"

Current Employee - Analytical Lead says

"I have been working at Google full-time for more than 3 years Cons: - very high volume of work - very political; - talended people are not rewarded; - no careers opportunities - no life/balance (you need to go out every week to be promoted)"
